Call for Auditions – GOD IS AN IRON – Summer 2017

Black Box Montreal is currently seeking actors for our touring Fringe production of Spider Robinson’s God is an Iron.

This production will be part of the Winnipeg Fringe Festival which runs July 19-30, 2017, and as part of the Intrepid Fringe Festival, which runs August 24-Sept.3rd 2017 in Victoria BC. Applicable travel and accommodations will be provided when on tour.

We are currently accepting submissions from Equity and non-Equity actors. Equity actors will be engaged under the CAEA Festival policy.

Black Box Montreal encourages submissions from artists of all ethno-cultural backgrounds.


We are casting the following roles:

Joe: Male, mid-to-late 30s, intelligent, philosophical. Has a habit of talking to himself. Discovers Karen in the middle of a suicide attempt, and nurses her back to health. Inquisitive and good with computers.

Karen: Female, late 20’s to early 30’s, intelligent, sharp-witted, but deeply depressed and emotionally scarred. Shows the effects of malnutrition and starvation.

Please prepare a dramatic contemporary monologue of approximately 2 minutes length. You will also be asked to do a cold read.

The deadline for submissions is Friday April 28th, at 5:00pm.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 29th, between 10am and 6pm. You will be contacted by email with your specific appointment time.

Callbacks will be held Sunday, April 30th, between 12pm and 3pm.
